Headache, asthenia, upper respiratory infections, gastrointestinal symptoms, and myalgia have been reported; myopathy has occurred rarely .
Adult: 5-20mg once daily . Doses may be titrated to 40mg per day in those who do not meet their lipid lowering goals on 20mg per day. Doses to be increased at intervals of at least 4 weeks. See BDS supply protocols pg. 6.
Statins should be avoided in pregnancy (discontinue 3 months before attempting to conceive) as congenital anomalies have been reported and the decreased synthesis of cholesterol possibly affects fetal development.
Avoid use of rosuvastatin in lactating women.
