PARASYMPATHOMIMETIC (CHOLINERGIC) AGENTS

Treatment of myasthenia gravis but very short acting. (Half-life may be less than 1 hour).
|
|
|
Prototype anticholinesterase, para-sympathomimetic. Nausea,
vomiting, abdominal cramps, salivation, diarrhoea, sweating, miosis, brady cardia, hypotension, agitation and dreaming. Weakness with overdose, may lead to paralysis. C.f. prescribing in renal disease p.33. |

Adult: 15-60mg every 2-4 hours as necessary . 1-2.5mg i.m. in emergencies.
