Severe toxicity , exacerbation of arrhythmias, bradycardia, hypotension, congestive heart failure, cardiac arrest, pulmonary toxicity , hepatotoxicity, hypo- or hyperthyroidism, nausea, vomiting,constipation, anorexia, tremor, ataxia, fatigue, headache, sleep disturbances, peripheral neuropathy, skin discoloration, phototoxicity and corneal microdeposits. Avoid in pregnancy and breast feeding. Avoid excess exposure to sunlight. May cause a blue gray colouration of skin.

Adult: 200mg 3 times a day for 1 week, then 200mg twice daily for 1 week, then a usual maintenance dose of 200mg or less daily . Pediatric: loading dose of 10-20 mg/kg daily (or 500 mg/m2 daily ) for 7 to 10 days, followed by the lowest possible

Amiodarone may cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. IV amiodarone is used for acute management of supraventricular
tachycardia in pregnant patients ONLY if other therapies are ineffective/contraindicated. |

Amiodarone is distributed in breastmilk and is not recommended for lactating women.
