Class IV antiarrhythmic.
|
|
|
Do not combine with beta blockers. Nausea, vomiting, hypotension. Avoid grapefruit juice. Concurrent use with caffeine may result in enhanced CNS stimulation. C.f. prescribing in liver disease p. 18.

Arrhythmias: 120-480mg 3-4 divided doses. Inj. 5-10mg slow i.v. over 2-3 minutes (preferably with ECG monitoring); Angina: 120mg
3 times daily or sustained release as 120-240mg once daily . |

Verapamil crosses the placenta and can potentially cause fetal harm. Use during pregnancy only when the potential benefits justify the possible risks to the fetus.
|
|
|
Verapamil is distributed in breastmilk. Use is not recommended for lactating women.
