Induction and maintenance of general anaesthesia

Pain at injection site; apnea; hypotension.

Adult: Induction dose is 2-2.5mg/kg. Maintenance: 6-12mg/kg/hour. Dose adjustments are required in the elderly .

|
|
|
Propofol should only be used in pregnancy if clearly needed. Propofol is not recommended for obstetrics, including cesarean section deliveries. Propofol crosses the placenta and may be associated with neonatal CNS and respiratory depression.
|
|
|
Breast-feeding can be resumed as soon as mother has recovered sufficiently from anaesthesia.
