Vitamin K deficiency most commonly seen in hepatic failure. Overdose of oral anticoagulant.

Vitamin K antagonises the anticoagulant effects of coumarins and indandiones. Antibiotics in the gut may reduce or inhibit the bacterial sy nthesis of vitamin K.
|

|
In the treatment of vitamin K deficiency bleeding in neonates, 1 mg intravenously, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly; further doses maybe given if necessary. As a prophylactic measure, a single dose of 0.5 to 1 mg may be given intramuscularly to the newb
