NITROFURANTOIN
URINARY ANTI-INFECTIVES
Urinary tract infections.
Nausea, vomiting.
Avoid antacids. C.f. prescribing in liver and renal disease p . 15; 33.
Adult: 50 to 100 mg four times daily for 7 days, or 50-100mg at night for long term suppressive therapy . Pediatric: 3 months and over: 3mg/kg daily in 4 divided doses. Take with food or milk.
The drug should be used during pregnancy only when clearly indicated and is contraindicated in pregnant women at term (38-42 weeks gestation), including during labor and delivery or when onset of labor is imminent.
