IOVERSOL
ROENTGENOGRAPHY
Ioversol is an iodinated radiographic contrast medium that is given intra-arterially or intravenously for angiography and urography. For other procedures, it can be injected into body cavity or injected into gall bladder, bilary ducts or spleen.
Most reactions occur within 5 to 10 minutes and are mild and transient; however, severe, life-threatening reactions may also occur, and delayed reactions have been reported. Common side effect is flushing or a sensation of heat, which causes vasodilation in response to the osmolarity of the solution. Urticaria, pruritus, pallor, sweating,a metallic taste, weakness, coughing, rhinitis, sneezing, lachrymator, and visual disturbances may also occur.
