These drugs may act at any combination of the following sites:
1. The vessel wall unrelated to nerve ending e.g. diazoxide, hydrallazine, nitrates, nitrities. 2. The sympathetic receptor- Beta blockers, e.g. propranolol, metoprolol. 3. The post ganglionic sympathetic nerve endings e.g. guanethidine, reserpine. 4. Sympathetic autonomic ganglia. 5. The CNS (the brain stem) e.g. reserpine, methyl- dopa. 6. Blood volume. |
