GENTAMICIN
EENT ANTIBACTERIALS
Septicaemia and neonatal sepsis, biliary infections, intraabdominal
and UTI, acute p y elonep hritis. Severegram-negative infections, primarily pseudomonas infections.
Increase dose interval in renal imp airment in children and the elderly . Use nomogram (see renal disease guidelines p . 19-38) and check p eak (1 hour) and trough (p re dose) levels. Ne hrotoxicity or ototoxicity may occur. c.f. prescribing in renal disease p. 30.
i.m. 3-5mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours for 7-10 day s. 12
hours (clearance 30-70 ml/min), 24 hours (clearance 10-30ml/min, 48 hours (clearance 5-10ml/min)
