CAPTOPRIL
ACE INHIBITORS
Essential hypertension, congestive heart failure, diabetic nephropathy in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus with retinopathy .

Hypertension: Initially 12.5mg twice daily to a maintenance dose of
25-50mg twice daily . Max. of 50mg 3 times daily is rarely needed.
Diabetic nephropathy: Usual dose 25mg 3 times daily . CHF: 6.25-
12.5mg 2-3 times daily.See BDS supply protocols pg.
ACE Inhibitors can cause injury and death to the developing fetus when used in the second and third trimesters. ACE Inhibitors should be discontinued as soon as possible once pregnancy is detected.
Captopril is distributed into breastmilk and is not recommended in lactating women.
