HIV PROTEASE INHIBITORS

HIV-1 infection in treatment -naïve and treatment-experienced adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age or older.

Rash, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea, unconjugated hyper- bilirubinemia, headache, lactic acidosis.

Adult: Atazanavir 300mg/ ritonavir 100mg once daily with food.
|
|
|
|
|
|
Theoretical risk of hyperbilirubinaemia in neonate if used at term.
|
|
|
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other experts recommend that HIV-infected women not breast-feed infants, regardless of antiretroviral therapy due to the risk of transmitting the virus through breastfeeding.
