Active Ingredient AZITHROMYCIN
Therapeutic Class OTHER MACROLIDES
Indications Skin and soft tissue infections; respiratory tract infections, ottis media, uncomplicated genital chlamydia infections and non-gonococcal urethritis.
Caution Gastrointestinal (abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea), particularly with higher doses. Do not use with antacids.
Dose Range Adult: 500mg daily for 3 day s or 500mg on first day then 250mg once daily for 4 days. Chancroid, Chlamydia: 1g stat dose. UncomplicatedGonorrhea: 2g stat dose. Pediatric: 6 months and over: 10mg/kg/day for 3 days. Tonsillitis: 2 years and over: 12mg/kg/

Therapeutic Class OTHER MACROLIDES
Indications Nongonococcal urethritis, streptococcal pharyngitis, skin and soft tissue infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media.
Caution Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and anorexia. The serum half-life of roxithromycin may increase in the presence of severe renal or hepatic failure, and dosage modification may be required.
Dose Range Adult: 150mg twice a day or 300mg once daily . Pediatric: Usual doses are 2.5 to 5mg/kg every 12 hours. See BDS supply protocols pg.3.
