Indications Myasthenia gravis. Preferable to neostigmine because of longer half-life (1-3 hours). Delayed format is available.
Caution As for neostigmine; note "Cholinergic Crises' or paralysis due to over medication (abdominal cramp s most useful warning). C.f. prescribing in renal disease p. 36.
Dose Range Adult: 60-180mg every 3-6 hours, carefully titrated for optimal effects. Paediatric: under 6 y ears: 30 mg; 6 to 12 y ears: 60 mg, increasing to a maximum of 30 to 360 mg daily .
